World Day of the Poor: how you can get involved

The second World Day of the Poor takes place on 18 November 2018.

To help people get involved in social action, Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN) have produced resources for parishes and individuals. These include testimony to help deepen our understanding of others’ experiences, posters, prayers and ideas on how to take action. There is also a Catholic Social Teaching resource from the Diocese of Middlesbrough.

In his message, Pope Francis asks us, whatever our means or background, to rediscover and celebrate our capacity for togetherness, for example by sharing a meal after Mass.

The World Day of the Poor wishes to be a small answer that the Church throughout the world gives to the poor of every kind and in every land, lest they think that their cry has gone unheard.
