The God who Speaks – diocesan launch

The God who SpeaksThe year 2020 has been earmarked as a focus on the Bible and ‘The God Who Speaks’.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales is encouraging everyone to celebrate, live and share God’s word with this exciting new Scripture initiative. It coincides with the 10th anniversary of Verbum Domini – Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Exhortation on ‘The Word of the Lord’ and the 1,600 anniversary of St Jerome’s death.

Archbishop Bernard will launch the Year of the Word at St Chad’s Cathedral on 30 November. It will take place at the 4.30pm Mass on the Vigil of the 1st Sunday in Advent. Everyone is welcome.

The Archdiocese has also formed a steering group to develop how we will celebrate, live and share God’s word during 2020.

Throughout 2020 there will be events, activities and resources to take part in all around the country. There will be three themes – celebrating, living and sharing God’s word. Each month will have a different focus to help explore the themes. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference hopes to ‘achieve transformation in our hearts and in our communities’.
