Come and join Hosanna – the Easter story in song and mime
Hand in Hand invite you to join them for Hosanna – the Easter story told in song and mime.
It will take place at St Peter’s parish in Leamington Spa in March 2020 and they are calling for people to get involved. They write…
Together, we will relive the events of Holy Week from the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, to the devastating crucifixion on Good Friday, with a hint of what happened next…
Hand in Hand is a group of adults with and without learning disabilities, living in the Warwick / Leamington Spa area, who meet regularly to socialise and to pray using drama, music and sign language.
We need you!
The cantata, ‘HOSANNA’, has been written by Anne Ward and is performed in mime, with narrators telling the story. We are really enthusiastic about performing HOSANNA, but we can’t do it alone. So we hope that you will join in.
There is a part for everyone. Whether you love drama or are happier as part of the crowd, whatever your age or ability. We are particularly inviting people with learning disabilities to join in with us for this event. The places where we will be rehearsing and performing the cantata are fully accessible.
If you want to come but might need help with transport, do get in touch – we may be able to help with this.
As this is a musical story, we are also looking for people to sing or can play musical instruments like guitar, flute, drums….
When is HOSANNA happening?
Because we hope that some people will come from further away, we will be rehearsing on only two days: Saturday 21st March (10am-4pm), and Saturday 28th March (from 10am).
You will need to come to both of these days. Musicians will be invited to a separate workshop so do not need to come on 21st March. On 28th March there will be a morning workshop and rehearsal for everyone involved. In the afternoon, we will perform the cantata in front of an audience at 2pm.
