Season of Creation: 1 September – 4 October
The Season of Creation is a global ecumenical celebration of prayer and action to protect our common home. It starts each year on 1 September and finishing on the feast of St. Francis, 4 October.
During this season we are encouraged to pray and engage in community events in order to deepen our relationship with our God, our neighbour and the earth we share.
The theme for 2019 is “the web of life. ”The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development at the Vatican is encouraging people to participate. They highlight that “this theme connects our role as the stewards of God’s creation with the urgent need to protect biodiversity”.
To support parishes and individuals, there are prayers and resources available from Cafod, the Bishops Conference of England and Wales and others. It also includes information about recycling and saving energy, and advice for schools on how to be more environmentally friendly. There are also links to other useful website.
