SUMMARY:Virtual Lourdes Pilgrimage 2021
DESCRIPTION:Join the Archdiocese of Birmingham for a Virtual Pilgrimage to Lourdes. \nTaking place from Sunday 30 May – Friday 4 June\, the event is an invitation to make the journey in spirit with people from across the Archdiocese. Everybody is welcome to attend. \nJoin online at www.birminghamdiocese.org.uk/lourdes-pilgrimage. \nThe virtual pilgrimage has been designed to reflect the physical journey as closely as possible. It aims to bring Lourdes to those who would usually make the physical journey. Events will then take place throughout the week\, giving an opportunity to unite in prayer. \nEach morning\, a different part of the Archdiocese will deliver Mass with the exception of Monday when we will join Middlesbrough Diocese. There will be a themed liturgy each day and we will pray the Mysteries of the Rosary throughout the week. \nThe week will feature torchlight processions and virtual tours of the key sites in and around Lourdes. \nOn Wednesday\, there will be a Mass from Alton Castle focusing on young people who normally join the pilgrimage. And there will be a Virtual Lourdes Concert with music from Jo Boyce and Dan Callow.  \nFor full details\, watch an Introduction to the Online Pilgrimage\, which explains what will happen during the week and how you can join in. SUMMARY:World Day of the Poor
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 19 November 2017 is the first ever World Day of the Poor and Christian communities the world over are invited to mark the day. \nLast year\, Pope Francis announced that 19 November would become annual World Day of the Poor. He called on Christians worldwide to offer friendship\, solidarity and welcome to the poorest among us. Communities are asked to unite in love and in acts of service and bear witness to Jesus’s preferential option for the poor. \nThe Day encourages everyone to find a way to encounter people living in poverty. It invites us to pray together\, to develop our understanding of poverty and to take action. Pope Francis says that doing so “enables us to understand the deepest truth of the Gospel.” He hopes it will help us reflect on the fact that if there are destitute people on our streets there can be no justice or social peace. \nCSAN World Day of the Poor resources\nParishes around the world will take part in activities to celebrate the first World Day of the Poor. To help them\, CSAN has published a series of resources on its website. These include videos\, liturgy resources\, faith sharing resources\, prayer cards\, and newsletter inserts. They also include ideas on how to take action and help people in need. \nTo download the resources\, visit CSAN’s website: www.csan.org.uk/worlddayofthepoor.
